A New Zealand-based TikTok creator has appeared in court facing serious sexual assault charges after an alleged incident in Christchurch.
Benjamin Hasbun Dansky, 27, is charged with rape, unlawful sexual connection, strangulation and intentional damage following an alleged assault at the University of Canterbury Rugby Football Clubrooms.
Police say the charges relate to an incident in Riccarton.
The social media personality, known online as Haseya, has built a following through videos comparing life in New Zealand and the United States, alongside music released under the same name.
He appeared in Christchurch District Court this week and was remanded to reappear later this month.
The case has drawn attention due to his online profile, with thousands of followers across TikTok and Instagram.
As the matter is before the courts, further details are expected to emerge as proceedings continue.
