Timaru shoplifter ordered to pay $75 for stealing adult toy

A Timaru woman who stole an adult toy from a chemist has been ordered to pay back the full cost of her purchase.

Shizelle Jasmine Harland, 37, pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared in the Timaru District Court on Tuesday.

The court heard Harland was caught on CCTV selecting a Skyn Caress clitoris stimulator from a shelf at Chemist Warehouse at The Showgrounds retail complex on April 2.

She then left with the $74.99 item without paying.

Harland was ordered to pay $74.99 reparation and complete 40 hours of community work.

A costly reminder that, when it comes to adult toys, Chemist Warehouse prefers customers to take the conventional approach.
